Last August Free League released Dragonbane, a remake of a classic Swedish TTRPG, now made available globally for the first time. They also came up with a Dragonbane game engine for free use that will allow anyone to make a game that is compatible with the rules in this one. But for those who feel the stock of monsters in the vanilla Dragonbane is a bit small, a new shipment is on the way.
Free League just annouced Dragonbane Bestiary for a Q1 2024 release. This additional volume will introduce 63 additional monsters to the roster, illustrated by the artists Johan Egerkrans and David Brasgalla. The book will also contain info for nine new playable kin, each with their own unique ability.
As with Dragonbane itself, there will be both physical and digital versions of the Bestiary. The physical will be available both in a standard edition and in a premium Collector’s Edition with a faux leather cover and gold foil print.
Free League also announced a few other things today, both relating to Dragonbane: a complete cardboard Standee Set is coming and will include the creatures that are introduced in the Bestiary. Once it’s out you can stick them anywhere on a battle map and instantly let your players know what they’re in for.
a hardback version of the Dragonbane Rulebook is also coming, and like the Bestiary it too will be produced in a standard edition and a Collector´s Edition with a faux leather cover and gold foil print. Contents will be the same for the Rulebook, with the exception of an extra introductory adventure, The Castle of the Robber Knight.
All these things are now open for pre-order in the Free League webshop, and anyone who orders today will be beamed an advance PDF copy.
