Doogie Kamealoha M.D is coming to Disney Plus this September.
Doogie Kamealoha M.D is about a 16 year old girl from Hawaii who graduated Med School at Harvard. It stars Peyton Elizabeth Lee as the lead character. Lee is known for lead role at the concluded drama Andi Mack. On that she she played the title character who was the daughter of a teenage mom. In a way her character in Andi Mack have a small similarity with her character on this new show. Both Andi and Doogie are biracial girls. This time around it is her mother who is Caucasian. Andi Mack was raised by her grandparents while Doogie will have both parents around.
Doogie Kamealoha M.D will be a more challenging role for Lee because she will play the role of a Mensa genius. The show will focus on her struggles to balance her career and teenage life. She have to act older than her age and base from the trailer, she is thriving with the role. Her Collegues at work will treat her like a kid while her teen peers will not resonate with her upbringing.
Doogie Kamealoha M.D is reboot of the 90s show Doogie Howser M.D. It has a similar plot but the lead character is a boy. That boy is Neil Patrick Harris who became a household name in both Hollywood and Broadway. To make a comparison with the original, here is the trailer of the original show.
Doogie Howser is acknowledged in Doogie Kamealoha M.D as an existing tv show and she got her nickname Doogie because of the show. That sounds very Meta. A crossover impossible Doogie Howser is fiction on this show but maybe we can still have a guesting with Harris as a guest playing himself. Doogie Kamealoha M.D is set to premiere this September 8.
