Disney Introduces Star Wars “Galaxy Of Adventures” Shorts
A new trailer appeared online today hyping up an impending project from Disney and Lucasfilm: a new series of well-animated web shorts called “Star Wars Galaxy Of Adventures.” Unlike similar past projects, which used original stories, the shorts are animated versions of fan-favorite scenes from Star Wars movies.
Why would they be doing this? James Waugh, VP of franchise content and strategy at Lucasfilm, tells the press “Over the years, I’ve had so many of my friends who are parents tell me how much they wanted to introduce their kids to Star Wars but didn’t feel that their kids were quite ready for the movies yet. They wanted a way to celebrate the universe they love.”
Errrrrmmmmm……so the shorts are intended as spoilers? How are the kids supposed to get into the movies later on if they already know what happens in the best parts? Greatly flawed logic here. I wouldn’t utilize these shorts for their intended use if I were you.
I’m not a parent, but if you want to get your kid into Star Wars, here’s what to do:
- Put on A New Hope
- Plunk kid onto sofa
- Let nature take its course
This method never fails, but it works best if the kid knows next to nothing about what he or she is about to experience. Avoid the shorts.
