Dexter will back with a 10 episode miniseries.
Dexter, America’s most beloved serial killer is back. He will be in 10 episode miniseries that will air on SHOWTIME. This new show will be coming this fall and while waiting for that people can binge the first 10 seasons.
Michael C. Hall is going to reprise his role as America’s favorite serial killer. The first run of the show spawned 10 seasons because the audience craves an antihero. I remember the 10th season having a satisfying ending. So that makes me not expect any continuation coming.
Dexter centers around Dexter Morgan, He is a dorky forensic technician who lives a secret life because he is also a Vigilante serial killer. Unlike most serial killers he mostly kills bad people like corrupt politicians, child molesters, his fellow serial killers, etc. There are instances though that he did will innocent people out of necessity or even mercy like a lady who is suffering from her illness.
This show did have some plotlines that I found uncomfortable, Michael C. Hall dated Jennifer Carpenter who plays Debra Morgan, his sister… The showrunners make them adoptive siblings so their characters can date.
People can resonate with him because deep inside many of us wanted to put Justice in our hands but we cant. No one really wanted to face the repercussions of committing a crime. So Dexter works as some kind of an audience surrogate. He have the same appeal as Light Yagami from Death Note but he is more grounded character who can exist in reality.
The show has controversies of its own. There some fans who crossed the line and tried to emulate what they saw on tv. Overall, I am still excited to see one of the iconic shows from the early 2000s making a comeback and it is not a remake nor reboot.
