Demon Slayer Mugen Train To Be Recut For Season 2
Did you somehow miss seeing Demon Slayer: Mugen Train despite the 10,000 articles we wrote about it during its release cycle? If so, we have good, but rather unexpected, news: the movie is not only part of the show, it will be made so literally. Funimation announced this weekend Mugen Train will be carved up into seven episodes, which will then be shown one week at a time starting October 10. So if you haven’t seen it. it’s new to you! (Zoomers will not get this reference to vintage Seinfeld promotional advertising)
The thing is, the story of the movie is a canon arc that would make the anime confusing if it was taken out, and the show will assume you saw it once it resumes with new episodes. This is actually a smart choice to avoid confusing casual viewers.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc is a seven-episode arc that adapts the popular film with an original episode, 70 news scenes, new music tracks, new open and ending animation, episode previews and new theme songs. It will all connect the Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc with the Entertainment District Arc, featuring a never-before-seen original episode of Kyojuro Rengoku taking on a new mission on the way to the Mugen Train. LiSA returns to sing the theme songs for the series, with the opening theme “Akeboshi” and ending with the theme “Shirogane.”
There are those of you who might be whining, “I already saw Mugen Train more than once, I don’t need to see it again.” Hold those horses…an actual Season 2 for Demon Slayer is on the way and will premiere right after the episodic version of Mugen Train finishes its run. Mark your calendars for December 5, when a new arc will start with a special hour-long episode.
