Deadpool Officially Highest Grossing X-Men Film
Deadpool turned the movie world on its head when it released two weeks ago, and it doesn’t look to be stopping any time soon. According to Comic Book Resources, the movie featuring the fan-favorite Merc With The Mouth has now grossed more than all the X-Men films, and all R-rated films that have come before it. In two weeks!
“Domestically, “Deadpool” has pulled in $235.39 million, putting it just above “X-Men: The Last Stand” ($234.36) according to Box Office Mojo. If you adjust for inflation, it actually comes in fifth behind “X-Men: Days of Future Past” ($244.76 million), “X-Men” ($253.90 million), “X2: X-Men United” ($310.13 million), and “The Last Stand” ($311.29 million)”
They go on to note more of its feats:
“In an equally impressive feat, “Deadpool” is also officially the highest-grossing R-rated comic book movie of all time, successfully passing both “300’s” domestic ($210 million) and worldwide ($456 million) numbers. The movie places an impressive sixth on the list of all-time domestic gross for an R-rated feature, and could very well be on track to take the number one spot away from “The Passion of the Christ.” It’ll have to surpass the first two “The Hangover” films, “The Matrix Reloaded,” and “American Sniper” to do so. The Merc with a Mouth currently sits at 17th on the domestic list of all comic book movie adaptations.”
This just bolsters the already amazing experience that Deadpool has given to moviegoers, and with a sequel already confirmed, and possible crossovers with the X-Men universe possibly on the way, it looks like Deadpool’s fame in films is only just beginning.
