Deadpool: Adult Animated Series Planned for FXX
It’s not April Fool’s Day. This news comes straight from Marvel Entertainment, so it’s definitely real. Marvel confirmed today that a new animated series based on Deadpool is in the works. The show will be an “adult animated” series, and it’s set to debut with 10 episodes on FXX later in 2018.
FXX has already placed a series order for the show. The announcement comes from Eric Schrier and Nick Grad, the Presidents of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions and Jeph Loeb of Marvel TV. The show will be an animated adult action-comedy series. The show also has some prestigious talent behind it. Former Community star and Atlanta creator, Donald Glover, and also Stephen Glover will be the show’s Showrunners, Executive Producers, and Writers. Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory are executive producing the show for Marvel TV.
Speaking on the announcement, Nick Grad stated, “Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta. With the success of Legion, we’re looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original.”
Jeph Loeb stated in the press release, “How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX – the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth! We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with Legion continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation.”
In terms of Glover’s Marvel cred, he’s set to make an appearance in Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming. Additionally, he previously voiced Miles Morales in the animated Ultimate Spider-Man TV series. Additionally, he’s set to portray a young Lando Calrissian in the Star Wars Han Solo movie. He will write the show alongside Atlanta staff writer Stephen Glover.
More details on the show will be revealed later on.
