Dead By Daylight Is Becoming A Board Game
After attracting millions of players as a video game, Dead By Daylight is looking toward the tabletop market. A board game version of the asymmetrical horror title is in the works, and its crowdfunding campaign just launched. It has already met its goal with nearly 3000 backers so far.
Like the video game, one player selects the Killer while the others play as Survivors. The Survivors have to work together to search for tools and (in this game) play movement cards to explore the grounds and power up the generators on the board that will ultimately provide an escape. The Killer, meanwhile, simply hunts the Survivors. Whoever successfully escapes the board wins, but if no one does, the Killer wins.
There are two versions of Dead By Daylight to pick from: the Standard Edition for $50 comes with 6 Killers, 7 Survivors and 2 maps. The beefier Collectors Edition (which will not be sold in stores) contains 16 Killers, 17 Survivors, and 4 maps, plus upgraded components and additional miniatures, for $100.
“Accessibility is a key aspect of the game,” says lead designer D. Brad Talton Jr. “Dead by Daylight embodies a lot of detailed concepts but presents these very simply and intuitively. We worked hard to capture that aspect in the tabletop game as well, so that players of all skill levels can find something to enjoy.”
Level 99 Games is ready to start production and if you order a copy, you’ll get it quicker than most tabletop Kickstarters deliver: it should be in backers’ hands by Halloween. The campaign will remain open until April 21.

Does this come with Survivors, killers and hooks too? Are they going to involve the licensed characters?
