DC Comics Solicitations August 2023
As we ease into the summer months, we’ve just learned what DC plans to do to wrap them up. It will be an eventful August at your comic shop.
The KNIGHT TERRORS continue in the DCU! Superman, Batman, Jim Gordon, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Nightwing, Catwoman, The Joker, Robin, Power Girl, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Shazam, Green Lantern, Black Adam, Punchline, Ravager, Angel Breaker, Zatanna and the Teen Titans are still trapped in a dream world of evil, and need two issues of their own individual books to break free.
It all culminates in NIGHT’S END, a 48-page one-shot where our heroes manage to escape their nightmares but find those nightmares have followed them into the real world! It’s the Justice League vs. the Nightmare League in a crazy finale that hits shelves August 29!
Meanwhile, the Penguin’s got his own book again. He’s returned to Gotham to relaunch his criminal empire, which might be difficult as others have filled that gap and his estranged children now run the Iceberg Lounge. In addition, Penguin faked his death not too long ago and framed Batman for it, so the Dark Knight is probably focused on finding him. PENGUIN #1 continues a plot thread that started as a backup story in Batman issues #125-127, and if you missed those, they will be reprinted in a companion book, PENGUIN #0, to be released the week before.
There will be a Superman crossover event in 2024, and the first clues toward what happens will be revealed in the SUPERMAN 2023 ANNUAL. The 48-page book focuses on Lois investigating a new case that….could involve Superman himself? That doesn’t sound right. Find out what’s brewing in Metropolis when the annual goes on sale August 8.
Finally, our heroes bare major skin in the beachside, sun-drenched pages of the G’NORT’S ILLUSTRATED SWIMSUIT EDITION, due out August 29. Buy three copies and hide them from your mom! DC’s full list of August titles stretches out below.
