Daredevil TV Series Coming Sooner Than You Think
S0 it looks like Netflix and Marvel’s new Daredevil television series is not coming out in May as originally thought. Instead, the show is coming out even earlier in April. On Wednesday (Jan. 7), Marvel Entertainment and Netflix announced that the new Daredevil TV series will launch on Netflix’s streaming service on April 10. In addition, Marvel released a special motion poster/logo teaser for the show, which is available in the player below.
The show previously wrapped filming for its first season last month. The new live action series will follow the journey of attorney Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a young boy who was blinded in a terrible accident. However, while the accident left him blind, it left him with other enhanced, extraordinary senses. Murdock sets up a law practice in Hell’s Kitchen, New York with his best friend Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson). By day he fights injustice as a lawyer, but at night he becomes a masked vigilante known as Daredevil.
The series also stars Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk aka The Kingpin, Deborah An Woll as Karen Page, Bob Gunton as Leland Owlsley aka The Owl and Vondie Curtis-Hall as Ben Urich. Daredevil is executive produced by Steven S. DeKnight, who is also serving as the showrunner, Drew Goddard and Jeph Loeb.
Thus far, all the promotional images that have been released depicting Cox as Daredevil show him wearing an all-black, prototype suit of sorts. Entertainment Weekly reported that Daredevil will eventually don his “iconic red costume,” in the show. One imagines that Marvel is holding out on showing his more traditional costume as a big reveal for later on.
Netflix will premiere all 13 one-hour episodes of the series on April 10 at 12:01 AM PT in all territories where Netflix is available. The show will be the first of several planned Marvel TV shows for Netflix, including: Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders. Earlier, USA Today reported that the Marvel Netflix shows would be released at roughly one-year intervals.
