Creator of Minecraft wins Interim Injunction against Bethesda
Markus Persson AKA Notch won the Interim Injuction against Zenimax/Bethesda which means he gets to continue using the name Scrolls in his follow up game to gaming craze Minecraft.
Since the 5th of August when Markus announced it on his blog the internet has known about the lawsuit filed by Bethesda against Markus for using the name Scrolls which they claimed would cause confusion with gamers about their line of games Elder Scrolls. After a challenge to a Quake 3 tournament to determine if Notch would keep the title Scrolls or not was turned down and after Markus offered Bethesda to discontinue the use of the name and again was turned down it appears today is a bit of a victory. Appearing in good spirits Markus tweets “We won the interim injunction! We can keep using the name “Scrolls”. ZeniMax/Bethesda can still appeal the ruling, but I’m very happy. :D”.
While ZeniMax/Bethesda can still appeal the ruling for the moment anyway the upcoming game’s name seems to be safe.
