Coming To Shudder: Cursed Films
Some of the most memorable horror films of all time have scary stories surrounding their very production. Was it just bad luck, or were the movies….CURSED??? Nah, it was bad luck, there’s no such thing as curses.
We’ll see what kind of view the upcoming docu-series CURSED FILMS takes as it examines the misfortune surrounding five classic horror films: The Exorcist, Poltergeist, The Omen, The Crow, and Twilight Zone: The Movie. On hand for interviews are the actors, producers and directors involved with the films, including Linda Blair, Kane Hodder, Richard Donner, Lloyd Kaufman, Michael Berryman, and, just for good measure, Ryan Turek of Blumhouse.
Cursed Films is a production of the horror-focused streaming service Shudder, who will be premiering the first three chapters (which cover The Exorcist, Poltergeist and The Omen) at the SXSW film festival. That screening will take place April 2, followed by the docu-series’ rollout on Shudder April 9. The first three episodes will be available that week, followed by the last two (The Crow and Twilight Zone) on April 16.
It’ll be interesting to see what kind of take this series has on some of these events, which in several cases are more tragic than scary (Heather O’Rourke’s entire life, for example). The series will be exclusive to Shudder.
