Classic Streets Of Rage Soundtracks To Be Rereleased Soon
Streets of Rage 4 is out! This critically praised revival of the brawler franchise contains plenty of new rockin’ melodies, but also a few classics. If you’ve been playing the retro soundtrack and you wish you could hear it more often, good news….the songs from Streets of Rage 1 and 2 will be rereleased soon, and not just digitally.
Wayô Records is bringing back Yuzo Koshiro’s Streets of Rage I and Streets of Rage II soundtracks in a new collection — and on multiple formats, most of which you could have bought during the original games’ release. The first game’s tracks will be published on CD and contain bonuses like a new commentary from Koshiro and a 17-minute-long megamix by composer Shinji Hosoe. If this isn’t enough of a throwback, just wait a few months…when both games’ soundtracks will be released on cassette tape!
“We are excited to work again with composer Yuzo Koshiro to release the Streets of Rage II Perfect Soundtrack featuring an exclusive brand new mix by Shinji Hosoe,” says Wayô Records producer Jonathan Khersis. “For the very first time, we will also release a tape edition of both soundtracks. This is undoubtedly the ultimate retro format as many of us likely have childhood memories of recording our favorite game music on cassette tapes given how hard game soundtracks were to come by. This game series is a perfect fit for this format and we hope it inspires as much nostalgia in fans as it does in us.”
Streets of Rage and Streets of Rage II are now available for pre-order via the Wayô Records online shop. You pick the format.
