Chloe Bennet dyes her hair red to play Blossom
The CW has a reputation for casting people of color for roles intended for Gingers. They do it as a way of giving inclusivity and diversity to the cast of their shows. This had polarized some fans because why it has to be the ginger all the time? I wish I know…To continue the CW Tradition, Chloe Bennet will be playing Blossom.
Iris West from the Flash and Jimmy Olsen from Supergirl are two of the popular examples. African American actors got the roles for both characters. There is also Archie from Riverdale, who is portrayed by KJ Apa who is a New Zealand actor of Samoan descent but he is white-passing and he dyed his hair red. Most of the time when a person of color gets a Ginger role, their hair becomes black.
People of color who are gingers do exist in real life. I am not talking about hair dyes. There is a village in China where people either have Blond hair or red hair.
Blossom of the PowerPuff girls is the latest ginger to get the CW treatment. She is going to be played by Chloe Bennet, who is a mixed-race actress of Chinese descent. Blossom’s state of being ginger is safe though because Chloe dyed her hair red to kill two birds with one stone. Make the cast diverse without deleting Blossom’s red locks.
Chloe Bennet Uploaded a GIF of her on Instagram that shows her newly dyed red hair. It is a more subtle shade of red but it fits with her features well.
The Upcoming Powerpuff girls live-action series is a sequel to the original continuity. The girls are going through resentment and PTSD because of fighting crime as little children. It is a more dark and serious take to the legendary cartoon series. Chloe Bennet will be joined by Dove Cameron and Yana Perrault who will play Bubbles and Buttercup.
