Charlie Cox Is Playing Daredevil Again — But Not On TV
It feels like an eternity ago that it was possible for a partnership between Netflix and Disney to produce mature-themed shows in the Marvel universe. But the Daredevil show was only cancelled two years ago. The industry sure changes quickly, doesn’t it?
According to the terms of the deal, Disney was forbidden from doing anything with the Netflix shows, or the characters in those shows, for two years after cancellation. It has now been two years. We figured nothing would really happen, since two years is a long enough hiatus for audiences to forget, but….he’s back! Charlie Cox is suiting up as Daredevil, the Man Without Fear again. Just…not on TV.
You might have heard that the third Tom Holland Spider-Man film is, for some reason, turning into a casting reunion for every Spider-Feature of the last twenty years. Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Kirsten Dunst, Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina have all been confirmed as reprising their characters, which can only mean one thing…live-action Spider-Verse, baby! And now it sounds like it’s not confined to just movie characters either.
Daredevil fights crime in a neighborhood of New York City, so it’s only natural he and Spider-Man would meet…thing is, due to rights issues it’s never been possible. 2020 is technically the first year you could begin filming such a crossover. So if we get the Netflix Daredevil, does that mean Spidey and Kristen Ritter’s Jessica Jones will be trading sarcastic quips? Anything’s possible now…
