Xbox Boss Interested In Original Xbox Backwards Compatibility
Phil Spencer has today confirmed that backwards compatibility of original Xbox games on the Xbox One is something that he is interested in doing and hopes will be possible in the future. While the Xbox team is still working to get the 360 backwards compatibility working properly, Spencer explained that he reminds the team about it regularly.
Responding to a question about whether backwards compatibility on the Xbox One for the original Xbox games was possible from an Xbox fan on Twitter, Spencer said, “I don’t think it’s silly. I ask the [backwards compatibility] team this question a lot. Need to finish the 360 [backwards compatibility] first.”
@HadleeSimons I don't think it's silly. I ask the BC team this question a lot. Need to finish 360 BC for now.

Microsoft first announced backwards compatibility for the Xbox One at this year’s E3. Despite previous comments from employees working on the Xbox console that it wasn’t possible to run previous games on the Xbox One, Spencer revealed that a dedicated team at the company had managed to do just that.
The ability to play Xbox 360 games on the new console is still in beta however and is only available to those in the Xbox Preview Program. It is set to get a full public release later in the year but certain games, such as Rare Replay, have already utilized the technology to make certain titles publically available. There are though still some issues, including frame rate problems and crashes, which means that the emulation is still not completely perfect.
