Call of Duty: Ghosts’ dynamic lighting technology looks a bit iffy
As many of you will know, Microsoft concluded its somewhat disappointing Xbox One console reveal event with the world premiere of Call of Duty: Ghosts, presented by Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg. But while most were left speechless by its high-quality visuals, we were scratching our heads.
Fast forward to 0:26 on the official reveal trailer and you’ll see this lone squaddie traversing a deep jungle as warm rays of sunlight cascade through the trees. Notice anything peculiar?
Evidently, the sun is centre screen, and yet light is also being cast from the top left-hand corner of the screenshot. How is this possible? Has our solar system acquired a second source of illumination lately? Is the surrounding foliage chock-full with torchlight-waving primates? Or could these be artificial beams added by Infinity Ward to make its ‘new’ engine look pretty?
Call us cynical, but this observation has the TPG team wondering just how next-gen IW’s next-gen Call of Duty title really is – from a graphical standpoint, anyway. We’ve reached out to the developer for comment, and will provide an update if/when we receive one.
Your thoughts, readers?

Hah! That’s funny.
