Bloody Marie Coming To Theaters November 1
Uncork’d Entertainment is releasing the Dutch action-drama Bloody Marie in the US this fall. The film will be presented with English subtitles, and will have a run in selected theaters.
The Bloody Marie in question is a successful graphic novelist (let me just throw in that European comic books have been mainstream reading material in their home countries for decades. They are also lavishly detailed, frequently amazing, and are frustratingly hard to find in English…back to the movie).
Marie’s fans are waiting eagerly for her next GN, but it’s been a while. Marie isn’t doing too well…she’s in the same situation as the astronaut from the “Ellipse” movie we posted about a few hours ago. Hard drinking, wallowing in despair, throwing away her future. But then she walks into a horrific beating taking place at the apartment next door. She can stay quiet about it, and NOT become a target herself, or she can finally do some good….
Bloody Marie stars Susanne Wolff, and was directed by Lennert Hillege and Guido van Driel. It’s one of the nine films in contention to be the Dutch entry for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards (though nine films fighting for just one slot isn’t great odds). The film will have a theatrical run in selected cinemas beginning November 1, and arrive on VOD platforms November 11.
Marie, once a successful graphic novelist, lives in the Amsterdam red-light district. She drinks too much and gets into one conflict after another. A horrific incident in the house next door forces her to take action and get her life back on course.
Bloody Marie will hit select theaters November 1 and be available On Demand Nov 11.
