Black Widow got postponed again due to the Pandemic
There is still a debate about whether Mulan did great or not. Mulan becomes Disney’s experimental laboratory mouse if $30 rentals could work. Black Widow is supposed to be released in Disney Plus if Mulan does well. It might have been a different story if the rental is more affordable.
Disney got speculated to make around 60 to 260 million dollars from rentals in Disney Plus. Some say that was a domestic success on Disney’s part, but it is still considered an underperformance. Usually, most Disney movies make billions of dollars. It didn’t do well in the Chinese Box office. More people believe that because it didn’t do well because the Black Widow solo movie got delayed again.
Black Widow has been through so many delays due to the Covid19 problem. It was supposed to be going to be in the cinemas’ last May this year. Now it is going to be in theaters in May next year if the pandemic is over. Hopefully, it will be. Had Mulan did well in Disney Plus, Black Widows would have been available sooner than later. It is very unfair because they have two different markets.
Other MCU movies like Shang Chi, The Eternals, and many more Marvel movies also got postponed. Most Marvel movies have high expectations on them and, it is not a worthy risk of releasing them during a pandemic. Fans will have some Disney Plus original shows set in the MCU as a compensation of sorts.
Disney also postponed their other big event movies like Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of the Iconic musical West Side story. I expect Disney to focus more on small budget Disney plus originals until this pandemic is over.
Warner Brothers and DCEU seemed to be more confident than Disney because Wonder Woman 1984 will have a theatrical release this December.
