Birdgirl Premieres This Sunday On Adult Swim
When Adult Swim first took to the airwaves in 2001, Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law was one of the initial offerings. Only forty shows were made and each one is just eleven minutes long, but the series had staying power huge enough to remain in scattered reruns to this very day. Not only that, Adult Swim produced a return special in 2018, and managed to swing the return of Stephen Colbert as maniacal CEO Phil Ken Sebben (who was now the President).
But you can’t have Colbert every day anymore, so AS decided to not have him at all: the new spinoff Birdgirl opens with the news that Phil Ken Sebben is dead. No one is more shocked than his own daughter, Judy Ken Sebben — because it means she’ll have to take over his company. And she’s already busy as the superhero Birdgirl!
Balancing the two responsibilities won’t be easy. That’s why Judy has assembled a super-special Birdteam to handle the chaos. Meredith the Mindtaker! The Feels! The powerful Strongarm! And Birdcat — who’s just a cat. We’ll have to wait until the premiere to figure out who they are and what each one’s deal is. “By day, they try to drag the company into this century,” reads the official description. “By mid-afternoon, they usually end up having to break a lot of things to stop something bad that one of them may have helped cause.”
Originally announced in 2019, Birdgirl features the return of Paget Brewster as the title character along with the voices of Rob Delaney, Sonia Denis, Kether Donohue, John Doman, Negin Farsad, Tony Hale, and Lorelei Ramirez. Birdgirl gets to work Sunday, April 4 at midnight on Adult Swim.
