Bill And Ted 3 Is Most Excellently Happening, Dudes
For quite a long time now, the crew involved with Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure and its bogus sequel have been talking about making a third movie. Most of them seemed to want to do it, but the final piece of the puzzle — getting the go-ahead from MGM, who holds the rights currently — was the holdup. It’s held up no longer — Bill and Ted 3, now titled Bill and Ted Face the Music, was officially announced at Cannes today.
Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, the writers of the original, have a new script. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are both willing. The only step left is to find a necromancer to reanimate George Carlin’s body. Bill and Ted probably know one, so that’s taken care of.
Currently in pre-production, Bill & Ted Face the Music will see the duo long past their days as time-traveling teenagers and now weighed down by middle age and the responsibilities of family. They’ve written thousands of tunes, but they have yet to write a good one, much less the greatest song ever written. With the fabric of time and space tearing around them, a visitor from the future warns our heroes that only their song can save life as we know it. Out of luck and fresh out of inspiration, Bill and Ted set out on a time travel adventure to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe as we know it. Together with the aid of their daughters, a new crop of historical figures, and some sympathetic music legends, they find much, much more than just a song.
I also look forward to the revamped Saturday Morning cartoon where Bill and Ted are drawn as paunchy balding dads….then again, maybe not. Y’know, there’s a chance this all might not work. But it’s a chance we have to take, right? All we are is dust in the wind, dudes.
