Bill And Ted 3: Face The Music Slated For 2020
Rumors of a Bill And Ted 3 have crossed our newsdesk in the past, but we’ve tossed them away because….it keeps happening and going nowhere. We’ve heard of this rumored sequel for quite a while now, with no movement on the production end — just statements from those involved with the first two, wishing the third would happen.’
Now, though, we feel confident enough to tell you there’s a strong chance Bill and Ted 3 could happen as soon as next year. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter themselves made a video to outright state this, and it was posted by the official account of the newly resurrected Orion:
Well. We could really get this, dudes. Now we have to stop and think. Is this what we really want?
It’s one thing to watch a couple of dopey teenagers sling around 80s slang while traveling around time, because they ARE teenagers and it IS 1989. It’s another to watch two middle-aged doughy men acting in the same manner in 2020. We’re skeptical this can work, even with the updated premise that takes the time gap into account:
Yet to fulfill their rock ’n’ roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.
In addition to the return of Reeves and Winter, the film will also be written by Ed Solomon (who wrote the first two scripts) and Chris Matheson. In these divided times, we desperately need to learn to be excellent to each other. Hopefully the Wyld Stallyns can unite the world as Carlin’s prophecy foretold.
