Are Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns Co-Writing a Solo Batman Film?
This technically wasn’t announced at Comic-Con yet, but it’s totally a part of it. A source is telling Deadline that Ben Affleck (aka the upcoming Batman) is going to be teaming with DC Comics legend Geoff Johns to make a Batman solo film, one that Affleck plans to direct. The two will team up to write the script, which could be turned into DC/WB by the end of the summer.
Now to be clear, but the likelihood of this happening will probably depend on the script, and the box office performance of Batman v Superman does. Affleck currently has a commitment coming up to make a movie called Live By Night. After that though (which would be done by the time BVS arrives), they would start shooting the Batman movie. So we could get this film sooner than many would have thought.
Their have long been rumors that Batman could have a solo film after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and the report further states that the solo films will focus on Batman after his encounters in BVS and Justice League. The potential for this is enormous, and the possible villains that could arrive are near unlimited when you consider it.
Ben Affleck will first appear as Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
