Batman v Superman: Ultimate Edition Revealed!
The reaction to Warner Bros. and DC’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was pretty mixed and overall controversial. A lot of comic fans were unhappy with how the film turned out. Critics savaged the movie. However, there was also this sense that the movie was rather disjointed and was missing key scenes and plot elements. Perhaps this new edition of the film, the planned extended and R-rated cut will fix a lot of the films issues. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment officially revealed all the details for the upcoming release today, along with a new trailer, which you can check out below.
Right off the bat, the restored footage in the trailer does fix one major issue. It actually shows Clark Kent investigating Batman and learning more about that character. In the theatrical cut, that subplot was almost an after-thought. As a result, the conflict between Batman and Superman came off as way understated. The movie was too over-stuffed with so many characters and subplots, that the film was not able to pay enough time to all of them. At the very least, hopefully this cut will be more cohesive and coherent than the theatrical version.
This “Ultimate Edition” of the film will be rated R and 182 minutes in length. It will be released as an Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, a 3D Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, and Standard Definition 2-Disc DVD. Here’s a list of the special features.
