Batman To Be “Judge, Jury, and Executioner” in Batman V Superman
As more and more interviews and trailers for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice appear, we get to see more and more of the characters and the decisions that lead up to this epic clash of titans.
In an interview with Empire, producer Chris Roven revealed that this might just be the darkest Batman we’ve ever seen on screen:
“[Batman] is not giving people a chance,” explains producer Charles Roven. “He is more than a vigilante. He has become not only the cop, if you will, he has also become the jury and executioner.”
The reason for this much darker turn is simply because he’s been in this “business” for a long time, which again is something unique for the character on screen. Because of his years of experiences, his outlook has been affected:
“He’s older,” stresses the producer, “[and] he’s seen the worst of what man can do. He’s been darkened by it, he’s tougher, he’s angrier, I guess.” There’s no Rachel to grieve here, referencing Christian Bale’s Batman in The Dark Knight, but, adds Roven, “he’s still lost those that are near and dear to him, and not necessarily from old age or disease.”
How far will Batman go to stop both Superman and the other threats he’ll face in the film? We’ll find out when Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives March 25th.
