Batman: The Killing Joke Set for Limited Theatrical Run
So it looks like Batman: The Killing Joke will receive a limited theatrical engagement this summer. Fathom Events and DC Entertainment have announced that the upcoming animated film, based on the acclaimed graphic novel, will receive a one-night theatrical release set for Monday, July 25 at 7:30 pm and 10:00 pm local time at a number of US theaters in select cinemas across the country.
The film sees the return of Bruce Timm to the Batman franchise, as he executive produces the project, which stars Kevin Conroy as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Mark Hamill as The Joker. These actors portrayed the same characters in the seminal Batman: The Animated Series. Besides the animated feature, the presentation will be shown with a never-before-seen documentary, showing how Hamill was cast in the project and what the role means to him as an actor and a Batman fan.
Tickets for the event can be purchased starting Friday, June 17 at FathomEvents.com or at participating theater box offices. You can check out a complete list of theaters the film will be showing at the above link.
The film also stars the voices of Tara Strong as Barbara Gordon and Ray Wise as Commissioner Gordon. Sam Register executive produced the project alongside Bruce Timm, and Alan Burnett is the co-producer.
Batman: The Killing Joke arrives on VOD on July 26. It will then hit Blu-ray and VD on August 2. It will also premiere at the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con for fans in attendance.
