Batman Arkham Knight: New Arkham Insider Video Showcases Dual Play
Rocksteady Studios has released the second episode of its Arkham Insider video series for Batman Arkham Knight. The latest installment of the video series is available in the player below. It features new gameplay footage for Dual Play Combat in the highly anticipated sequel.
Besides finally getting to use the Batmobile, Dual Play is one of the more intriguing new features for the game. Essentially, Dual Play lets players actually take control of Batman’s allies such as Nightwing and Robin, which is awesome. However, it only seems to work in the Combat Arenas. So with Dual Play, you can seamlessly switch between Batman and one of the AI partner heroes. After a player switches, the computer AI will take over controlling Batman, while the player controls Nightwing, Robin or Catwoman. It seems switching between characters allows players to keep their combo hit score intact, along with any built up special moves or takedowns. A player can also charge up a Super Combo Takedown, which lets Batman and his AI partner pull off a double-team maneuver.
As a new combat feature, it looks really good. It definitely fits the fighting styles of these comic book superheroes. However, execution for this feature will be key. If it turns out to be sloppy or slows down the combat, even on next-gen consoles, it will be problematic. If Dual Play is a new feature that works well, it could add a great amount of new expansive depth to the Batman: Arkham franchise.
Batman Arkham Knight is finally due out on June 23. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
