Baldhu Church – Gateway to Hell?
Could an abandoned church in an eerie hamlet in Cornwall be the gateway to Hell?
When growing up in Cornwall, one of my best friends lived in a small hamlet named Baldhu, meaning ‘Black Mine’. Quite often a group of us would meet at her house, as there was always lots to explore. The local landscaped consisted of many features, a BMX racetrack we used to run around, woods we used to build makeshift dens in, and finally the abandoned church and graveyard.
With Halloween fast approaching, I’ve been remembering one Halloween in which four of us spent at her house. We watched The Sixth Sense and The Blair Witch Project on DVD in her grandfathers caravan at the bottom of the garden. Once the films were over, we went outside and a very thick fog had descended. As we were at “that age” we started daring each other about heading down to the church & graveyard.
When you turn off the main road onto Church Lane, the woods towering at each side of the road meet in the middle and block out the remaining moon light. As we approached the church on the right hand side we heard people in the graveyard. We peered over the wall and through some bushes, and saw what must have been at least twenty people in brown robes, dancing around a fire chanting.
This was enough to make us realise we needed to get out of there and we ran all of the way back to the house!
That was before the Internet was so wide-spread and so I have now investigated further to see if there are any other accounts of Baldhu Church…
The video below showcases some teenagers visiting the church.

“Two people advanced me as I was about to enter the church, they appeared from the church grounds which has been boarded up for years and told me the entrance to hell lies in my path. I laughed at them but they looked quite offensive and pointed to a deformed tree showing me how it’s in the shape of a H to represent hell”. [Source]
“there are stories of pagan rituals being carried out in the grounds, people breaking in and decorating the interior with pentagrams, and animal sacrifices. On top of this there were also stories about the church being haunted by the ghost of one of the parsons.” [Source]

Just a couple of other thing when I was at school the hole school was called to the hall and the police were there and we were told not to go there as they had had reports of things happing up there(or words to that affect )
Also one school lad reported been chased out the woods buy persons in dark hooded clothing
Locally we had heard the the church was going to be taken down stone buy stone and shipped to a buyer in Japan but the sale fell through due to the fact that it faces to the east and all other churches face to the west not sure how true this part. Is I have moved away so never got the chance to check it out anyone got more info ?
