Award-Winning Indie Game Icey Has Arrived On Nintendo Switch
Indie games are a vital part of the industry nowadays, every console has them, and via Steam, PC gamers can get in on the action. It’s hard to make a video game, and for indie teams, getting success can be even harder. So when a game does really well, we celebrate it. Such is the case with Icey. This indie game from China is already a massive hit, its been on PC Steam, mobile and PlayStation 4, and now, it’s arrived on Nintendo Switch.
If you’ve never heard of it, Icey is a side-scrolling action game with limitless skills and weapons for you to learn and use. Add that to waves upon waves of enemies, a boss you must defeat, and terminals that may or may not save your life, and you got an adrenaline pumping experience.
The game is easy to learn but difficult to master, and the graphics are all hand-drawn, adding that extra level of flavor and uniqueness.
The Nintendo Switch has been known for having indie games sell really well on it, so will it do the same for Icey? We’ll see. The game is available on the Nintendo eShop for $9.99.
As the player you take on the role of ICEY, with simple and intuitive controls, amazing combos, running, jumping, spinning, etc. which can be activated as you unleash your power and force on anyone or thing that dares to stand in your way. Every skill you have is special in its own way and you can adapt and create your own fighting style. As you progress more powers, skills and fighting force can be obtained by defeating the many mechanical entities you face. Massive Cyborgs will try to stop you and wave after wave with different attack forms will try to pinpoint your weak spots. Onscreen energy and hit bars help you constantly throughout to ascertain how well you are doing.
