Avengers: Infinity War Is Now The Biggest Movie Opening Of All Time
While somewhat expected, and predicted, Avengers: Infinity War has not only soared to the top of the box office, it has become the highest-grossing movie opening of all time. To be clear, this was no small feat. The previous record hold for the domestic box office was Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which grossed $248 million worldwide. Infinity War grossed $250 million, which is absolutely incredible from start to finish.
Now, on the worldwide scale, the previous record holder was The Fate Of The Furious, which got around $541 worldwide upon its release. Well, Avengers: Infinity War got $380 from the international market, meaning, that the film has grossed in one weekend, $630 million dollars.
This is a huge achievement for both Disney and Marvel Studios, especially coming off the success of Black Panther (which is still in the Top Ten of the box office for the record). And this proves that long build-ups like this can be fruitful even 10 years after they were started.
The only real question now is how much will the film earn when its run ends, and how long will it remain at the top of the box office. More than likely, it’ll go until Deadpool 2 comes out. But you never know.
