When the fourth season of Legends of Tomorrow (newly confirmed by The CW) begins this fall, Constantine won’t be the only character you’ll be seeing more of. Actress Jes Macallan has been promoted to series regular and her character of Ava Sharpe will be appearing in nearly every episode.
One of the highlights of Season 3 has been the character growth for many figures on the show. At the top of Season 3 Ava was merely a background character; a hard-edged Time Bureau agent who always stood in the way of the Legends and their haphazard-yet-ultimately-effective ways of doing things. As the series progressed Ava made more and more impromptu visits to the Waverider. At first the reason appeared to be to clamp down on them, but eventually we found out it was because she was developing feelings for Sarah Lance.
Then things took a hard left turn. During a trip to the future, the Legends discovered people who looked like Ava were walking around everywhere for some reason. It turned out “AVA” was an acronym and she was born in a lab along with hundreds of other clones, all named Ava. She wasn’t even the original Ava the Time Bureau had employed — more like the twelfth. Ava was crushed, but Sarah assured her it did not affect anything between them.
That’s where her story has been left at the moment. It’s unknown what she’ll do in the season finale airing next week, but we at least know she lives.
