Jessica Jones Season 3 Lands June 14
Netflix revealed the first 15-second teaser for Jessica Jones Season 3 this week. It silently marks the end of an era; the last season of Marvel’s Anything to premiere on the streamer. The whole Disney-Marvel-Netflix partnership began with such promise: use the Netflix platform to tell dark and gritty stories that you can’t do in the mass-market Cinematic Universe. Launch four shows (eventually five) and have the characters team up in a special event, just like the big boys onscreen. It sounded like a foolproof plan, especially when the shows started strong. But subsequent seasons would dip in quality, the later shows would never actually BE good, and the much-ballyhooed crossover, The Defenders, felt lacking and anticlimactic. None of these factors helped, but the shifting business landscape dealt the final blow: Disney and Netflix are breaking up, and pooling all their resources into helping themselves, not each other.
