Asylum To Take On Cocaine Bear With Meth Gator
Cocaine Bear did okay for itself in its opening weekend, earning $23 million and a second place debut behind Quantumania, but it’s unlikely to rise beyond that. When a film bases its hopes for success entirely on its meme potential, the results aren’t usually Avatar-level. That, however, is not going to stop the infamous Asylum Pictures from trying to find their own drug-hopped animal to exploit. I would imagine they’re jealous they didn’t come up with the bear idea first.
An alligator on meth is close enough. Asylum announced “Attack Of The Meth Gator” this week for a summer release. Like Cocaine Bear, this bases its premise on something that happened in the real world, though in this case not so much: Florida police sent out a bulletin a few years ago politely asking those in possession of meth to please NOT flush it down the toilet when they paid a visit, or else risk creating “meth gators” in the sewers. That’s a thing? It hasn’t been so far, but Asylum is here to speculate “what if.”
In this reality, the meth gators really DID happen and now they’ve gone nuts, bursting through the pipes and chomping whoever they can. No trailer or screenshots yet but there is a poster, shared by Asylum in their Twitter announcement:
Hold our bear⦠I mean, beer.
Coming for your life this summer.

Attack Of The Meth Gator will star Robbie Rist (Oliver from The Brady Bunch) and Patrick Labyorteaux (Little House on the Prairie) and be released sometime in the summer of 2023 to traditional outlets. We expect it to be followed up by a capybara on fentanyl or something.
