Arthur is back and its not a crossover game!
Arthur is back!
Ghost and Goblins is one of Capcom’s iconic arcade games during the SNES era. Now it is making a comeback with the Nintendo Switch. It is one of the most challenging games back then. It is known to be frustratingly hard, and addictive at the same time. If you enjoyed side scroller Super Mario Games and Cuphead, You will love Ghost N Goblins.
Arthur wears a very fragile armor that he can end up in underwear with one hit. One Arthur got hit while he is in his underwear, he will die and turn into bones. Ghost N Goblins have a similar Premise with Mario games but only darker. Sir Arthus must rescue Princess Prin Prin, who got kidnapped by Demon King Astaroth. In the Game, Arthur must fight hoards of demons and the undead. An infinite supply of Javelin is his weapon of choice.
They tried reviving the Franchise with Maxima: Ghost to story in PS2, and it managed to have a sequel. Those games don’t have Arthur, so it doesn’t feel the same, and they are not side scroller platformer either.
Capcom’s crossover games somehow managed to keep the game franchise relevant. Red Arremer appeared as Final Boss in SNK vs. Capcom chaos. Arthur appeared in many crossover games like Cannon Spike, Project X Zone, Marvel vs. Capcom 1 and 3.
According to some leaks, Capcom had intentions to revive many of their forgotten franchises. They did it with Strider successfully. I hope this leads to revivals of their other IPs like Darkstalkers, Rival Schools, and Dino Crisis.
The original game has 8-bit 2d graphics, while this new game has stylized 2.5d graphics. It looks like an animated oil painting, but it’s actually in 3d.
Ghost N Goblins resurrection will be available on February 25 of Next year for the Nintendo Switch.
