April 2021 will be the release date of the Mortal Kombat Movie
It is very timely because we are going to have the reboot movie adaptation next year. The announced release date is April 16, 2021. The Mortal Kombat franchise is on a roll when it comes to positive fan feedbacks because of the return of fan favorites like Mileena as DLCs and Iconic guest characters. Mortal Kombat 11 just won the Fighting game of the year after the success of the update Aftermath. Winning that award is enough good publicity for Warner Media, but MK11 just made $427 million worth of sales.
Ludi Lin from the 2017 Power Rangers film will be playing the lead character, Liu Kang. Australian actress Jessica McNamee is Sonya Blade. Max Huang is going to be Kung Lao. Mehcad Brooks from Supergirl will be playing Jax Briggs. Elisa Caldwell will be playing Nitara. The Iconic Ninjas Scorpion and Sub Zero are going to be played by Hiroyuki Sanada and Joe Taslim. As much as I want to see Cassie Cage, it will not happen. The timeline of this film is decades before her birth.
Newcomer Sisi Stringer confirmed on her Instagram that she is going to be Mileena. Her tongue is getting covered with silicon mold. She should be Kitana as well because Mileena is a clone of the Edenian Princess. During the 90s, a different actress played Mileena while Talisa Soto plays Kitana. I am crossing my fingers that she will play both characters because they are twins.
As a homage to the game, the fatalities will be in the movie. That is going to turn this into a rated-r movie. Todd Garner is the Producer of this movie.
He promised a trailer this coming New year. I hope the actors of this film will lend their likeness as dlc skins for the MK11. I mean the game is still getting updates so they might as well do it.
