Another Peacemaker Trailer To Watch
If you’re counting, this is the third trailer for HBO Max’s Peacemaker that the streamer has released. The upcoming series stars the same version of the character that was seen in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. He’s an arrogant, egotistical man who believes in “peace at any cost, no matter how many men, women and children I have to kill to get it.”
Peacemaker will have a whole new team to work with in the series, though we’ve seen some of them before…Jennifer Holland and Steve Agee are reprising their roles of ARGUS agents Emilia Harcourt and John Economos respectively. Freddie Stroma plays Vigilante, Chukwudi Iwuji plays Amanda Waller’s assistant Clemson Mum, and Danielle Brooks is ARGUS recruit Leota Adebayo. John Cena, as you can see, is back as Peacemaker himself.
What this trailer reveals that the previous two didn’t is when the series is set — you may recall it’s been a debate around here whether it’s pre-movie or post-movie. Early in the video Peacemaker remarks “it’s been a rough week, a building fell on me,” revealing this is all post-movie…which is for the better. It certainly looks like they’re setting up some kind of redemption arc for this maniac, and that’d be difficult to pull off if this was a prequel and he’s going to do what he did in The Suicide Squad anyway.
The first episode(s) of Peacemaker will premiere January 13, 2022 on HBO Max.
