Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter Renewed, AOS Spinoff Shelved
Agents of SHIELD renewed? Great! Agent Carter renewed? Fantastic! Marvel was all too happy to reveal that their two ABC shows had been picked up for a second season. For Agents of SHIELD, this wasn’t too big a surprise, as the second season of the show had won back the confidence of its original fanbase. As for Agent Carter, there was some worry that the show didn’t “live up” to the expectations the executives at ABC put on it. Thankfully for all fans (including myself), they apparently decided to give the series another season. Let’s go Peggy!
However, there may be an interesting side effect to this renewal. Mainly, the proposed spinoff for Agents of SHIELD, that was set to star new cast members Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood), has apparently been stopped according to Deadline. To be fair, it wasn’t a guarantee that it would happen, but rumors were certainly flying that not only would it happen, but it would spinoff via the Inhuman storyline that was going to finish off the season.
It’s unclear whether it was simply an executive decision not to go forward with it, a response to a split fanbase about the proposed show, or possibly a desire to only have two “spy series” on the network instead of three.
