Adventure Time, Regular Show, Steven Universe and More Receive New Season Renewals From Cartoon Network
Fans of Cartoon Network’s signature original shows received some good news this week because Cartoon Network officially announced new season renewals for five shows: Adventure Time, Regular Show, Uncle Grandpa, Steven Universe and Clarence. For Adventure Time, this will be the eighth season for the Peabody Award-winning show. For the Emmy Award winning Regular Show, this will also be Season 8. Uncle Grandpa and Steve Universe receive third seasons with the renewal, and Clarence enters Season 2.
Speaking on the announcement Cartoon Network Chief Content Officer Rob Sorcher stated: “It’s a banner year for Cartoon Network Studios original productions. It is particularly gratifying to see shows so creatively forward-thinking also deliver so powerfully with the audience.”
Regular Show and Adventure Time have both averaged more than 2 million viewers in key demos for its recent season installments. Season 7 of Regular Show will premiere later this summer. Season 8 will follow later on. New episodes for Steven Universe premiere later on starting Monday, July 13 and will run through Friday, July 17. Season 3 of Uncle Grandpa is set to premiere in 2016. More new episodes of Clarence will premiere on Monday, July 20 through Friday, July 24.
Unfortunately, this means that fans of action cartoons and animation will probably not see an emphasis on that again on Cartoon Network anytime soon.
