Adult Swim Premieres For The Weekend Of April 16

With Robot Chicken having finished its latest season, there aren’t as many new premieres on Adult Swim this week — just one. On Saturday evening Toonami kicks off with another new episode of the latest AS / Crunchyroll co-production, Shenmue: The Animation. Here’s where we are in the story:

“1986, Yokosuka. Ryo Hazuki has trained to master the Hazuki Style Jujitsu under his strict father in the Hazuki Dojo from his childhood. However, one day a mysterious man named Lan Di murders his father and takes the “mirror” his father was protecting. Ryo is determined to find the truth behind his father’s murder, but soon finds himself getting stuck in a war between the underground organizations…. Traveling from Yokosuka to Hong Kong, Ryo’s long journey begins!

“In “Entangled,” Ryo and Ren finally find Yuanda Zhu. However, they are soon attacked by the Yellow Heads and Yuanda gets kidnapped. Ryo gets cornered but is saved by Xiuying. Xiuying was worried that Ryo would fall in to the evil course blinded by revenge.”

AS seems to define “premiere” in these press releases as something that’s a total AS original, but Toonami will also be premiering Lupin the 3rd Part 6, which AS may not have paid to have made, but is still something that hasn’t appeared on the network before (or US broadcast TV, for that matter). It’s also a pretty new show overall, having just premiered a few weeks ago in Japan.

All episodes from any AS show can be viewed multiple ways: the network itself, Adult, and the Adult Swim app.
